Laurel

Laurel

(She/ her)

Laurel considers herself a foodie at heart. She started leading a fully plant based diet in January 2020 but has dabbled between being a vegetarian and pescatarian for 5+ years. For her, it’s always been about her love for animals.

Laurel works in the events world and sees everything as an experience! Specifically when it comes to food, she looks at dining out at your favorite restaurant with friends, standing in line at a festival to grab fries, exploring a new city and learning their culture or planning your snacks for super bowl Sunday-  all an experience!! She looks at food as a way to share and gain experiences.

She loves finding new restaurants, hunting down donuts shops, experimenting with new recipes and learning about intersectionality. You can follow her foodie journey on Instagram at @foodieintraining_.

Follow her on @latina_vegan_chef_ for plant-based sushi with Latin flair and flavor!

Maddie

Maddie

(She/ her)

Maddie went fully vegan a little over one year ago and has been vegetarian since she was young. Now, she can’t imagine it any other way! Providence, RI is where Maddie calls home, but she’s currently located in Maine for school! Maddie is an environmental studies major and passionate about food justice and sustainability! In her free time Maddie loves running, matcha, and anything creative!

Rose

Rose

(She/ her)

Rose recently moved to Providence and has been feeling spoiled by all the amazing vegan restaurants and bakeries here. You can usually find her trying a new recipe in the kitchen, while feeding veggie scraps to her 3ft tall cat (he’s obsessed). Rose also love making cocktails and doing projects around the house. She started my path towards veganism due to food sensitivities and became fully vegan in 2018.

Claire

Claire

(She/ her)

is a student at the University of Vermont studying Global Studies and French. Claire has been vegan for four years, and while she was initially driven by the environmental impacts of animal agriculture, the vegan lifestyle has shifted her worldview and made me aware of the injustice that exists in food systems for people and animals alike. Veganism, to Claire, means compassion and justice at all levels. When she’s not cooking and baking, you can find her reading, doing yoga, watching Gilmore Girls, or spending excessive amounts of time in the dairy-free ice cream section of the grocery store. Claire is so excited to rep Vermont for VeganZine and show the world how much amazing vegan food this little state has!

Courtney

Courtney

(She/ her)

is currently a student at Berklee College of Music in Boston and has been fully vegan since 2019. Courtney is a huuuge foodie, has been her whole life, but as she’s gotten older she decided to become more conscious of where food comes from. Once she started doing research into the animal agriculture industry, she knew that I had to choose veganism. Even if her lifestyle can’t be entirely harm-free, Courtney wants to cause as little suffering as possible. As a rep for the VeganZine, she want to show all fellow students that being vegan can be sustainable (and delicious)!

The Zine Team are community representatives of VeganZine who live throughout New England. Zine Team shares local news, events, and opportunities from their neighborhoods so everyone can Live the Local Vegan Life, wherever they may be.
